Hillclimb Korat

Hillclimb Korat is a car showcase held at Terminal 21 Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima, about 250 km northeast of Bangkok. Despite the name, it is not a traditional hillclimb race. Cars drive up the parking ramps of Terminal 21 and are displayed across multiple floors of the mall.

The event is organized by Connection Thailand as a regional edition of their touring modified car show. It brings custom builds and car culture to northeastern Thailand. The event has become one of the most anticipated car culture gatherings in the Isan region of Thailand.

What Happens at Hillclimb Korat?

Hillclimb Korat fills the parking levels of Terminal 21 with modified cars. Builders from across Isan (northeastern Thailand) and Bangkok bring their best work for display and competition. The unique venue format means you walk through the mall's parking structure viewing cars on every level.

There are also vendor stalls, food, music, and an energetic crowd. The event attracts both serious car enthusiasts and mall shoppers who discover the show while visiting Terminal 21.

The format works surprisingly well. The parking ramp angles give each car a natural display stance, and the enclosed structure means the show runs regardless of weather. It is one of the most unique car event formats in Thailand.

What Cars Show Up at Hillclimb Korat?

The car lineup is similar to other Connection Thailand editions. JDM builds, stance cars, widebody kits, and custom fabrication work are all well represented. You will see Honda Civics, Nissan Silvias, Toyota Supras, and European builds alongside Thai-market cars with extensive modifications.

The Korat edition tends to have a strong showing of Isan-based builders who do not always make it to the Bangkok shows. That means you see builds here that you will not find at Bangkok Auto Salon or XO Autosport.

The quality has improved with each edition as the event gains recognition. Builders who used to only show at Bangkok events now add Hillclimb Korat to their calendar.

Where Is Hillclimb Korat?

Terminal 21 Korat is a large shopping mall in the center of Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat). The city is accessible by car (about 3 hours from Bangkok on the motorway), by train, or by bus from Mo Chit terminal.

Korat is the gateway to Isan and has its own food and culture scene worth exploring. A Hillclimb Korat weekend makes for a good road trip from Bangkok with the car show as the centerpiece.

Korat itself is worth the trip. The city has excellent Isan food, a growing cafe scene, and a friendly atmosphere that makes it one of the more enjoyable destinations in northeastern Thailand for a weekend road trip.

How Do I Attend Hillclimb Korat?

Entry is typically free or low-cost since the event takes place in a public mall's parking area. Dates are announced on the Connection Thailand Instagram. The event usually runs for one day.
